Gentiane Venture is a French roboticist working in academia in Tokyo. She is Distinguished Professor at Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology (TUAT) and a researcher at the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST). She obtained her engineering degree at the École Centrale de Nantes in 2000 and her PhD degree at STIM Doctoral School of Nantes in 2003.

In 2004, before moving to Japan to work at the University of Tokyo for 5 years, she worked at the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA). In 2009, she established her own laboratory within TUAT. The laboratory consists of an international research team working on robotics, motion science, robot control and non-verbal communication to study the life shared with robots.

Her work is fundamentally interdisciplinary, and she collaborates with doctors, psychologists, sociologists, philosophers, ergonomists, artists, and designers.
