THOMAS WATKIN
Lecturer in sociology and urban planning, architect DPLG, master HDS, PhD in sociology at EHESS

Thomas Watkin is a teacher-researcher at the University of Nîmes, and a lecturer in design and social sciences since 2015. He has taught in several institutions in France (ENSAPLV, ENSAVT) and Mexico (Tec and ITESO).

His research focuses on the modes of housing production, public policies and innovations, community development, participatory urban planning, from a sociology and design perspective. He is a DPLG architect from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Versailles (ENSAV) and obtained a master's degree in design studies from Harvard Graduate School of Design (USA) and a PhD in sociology from EHESS Paris.

He is a member of the Projekt laboratory (EA 7447), with a team working on social innovation through design at the University of Nîmes, and an associate member of the Centre Maurice Halbwachs (CNRS-EHESS,ENS-PSE). He teaches and intervenes in several schools and universities (University of Montpellier, Universidad de Guadalajara, Paris College of Art). He publishes in design, urban planning and sociology journals.
